Accessibility Statement for The Absent Parent
Last updated 11/27/2025

At The Absent Parent, we are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all our visitors — including those with disabilities, impairments, or access needs.

Our mission is built around support, visibility, and justice. That includes making sure our platform is usable, readable, and accessible to every parent, professional, ally, or curious visitor, regardless of how they interact with the web.

What We’re Doing

We aim to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — a set of globally recognized standards designed to make websites more accessible.

To support this, we are working to:
• Ensure readable font styles and sufficient contrast across text and backgrounds.
• Enable easy navigation using keyboard-only or screen readers.
• Maintain compatibility with assistive technologies like voice recognition software, screen magnifiers, and text-to-speech tools.
• Structure our content clearly with headings, labels, and logical order to support comprehension and accessibility tools.
• Review all media (images, PDFs, videos) to ensure captions, alternative text, and transcripts are provided where necessary.

Known Accessibility Limitations

We are still developing and improving parts of the site, including:
• Some older PDFs and linked documents may not yet be fully accessible.
• Some third-party integrations (e.g., embedded tools or donation platforms) may not fully comply with accessibility standards.
• Occasional layout shifts may affect screen reader users or those with motion sensitivity.

We are actively working to address these and welcome feedback to help us prioritize changes.

Your Voice Matters

The Absent Parent is here for people who are often overlooked. That includes making this space a safe, welcoming, and functional place for everyone — including those who browse differently, read differently, and move through the world differently.

Let us know how we can improve. You shouldn’t have to fight to be heard — not in court, not online, not here.
